Dear Wildly Courageous Writer,

In a time where social media, the internet, and information is so quickly spread and in the hands of so many, it can feel overwhelming to see where we fit into the bigger picture of providing value and sharing our wisdom.

What I believe people need now more than ever are true stories. Honest, real, and raw stories. If I have learned anything in this space of writing to help others, it’s that I am not here to heal, fix, or save anyone. I’m simply here to share my story, connect, and invite others to do the same.

Because at the end of the day, relationships and connection are the fabric of life.

We literally survive as a species because of human connection. And to facilitate the kind of meaningful connection we crave and require, we have to muster up the courage to be vulnerable. We have to muster up the courage to share parts of ourselves that scare us. We have to muster up the courage to tell stories—and ones that not only touch the surface, but ones that weave into the thread of life’s breathing tapestry.

Storytelling is the thread of human connection:

Storytelling is the power to transform idea into narrative. Memories into history. Felt experience into tangible, breathable, lifelike creations. It is how I sit with you and share my world, and invite you to do the same.

We tell stories every day whether we realize it or not:

  • We recount our encounters at the dining room table.
  • We share photos—moments we captured visually to convey some experience.
  • We text one another or indulge dirty secrets on zoom chats.
  • We paint murals on walls depicting hardship or hope.
  • We tell ourselves we aren’t worthy, and other stories of the mind.

Stories happen at the micro, and they happen at the macro. The courage to take your story and share it broadly, to weave your words into a tapestry wide enough to touch the masses, is the courage to reach those who need connection most.

Your story could become someone’s lifeline—a thread for them to hold as they try to weave back into the tapestry of living.

HI ANGEL, I’M SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE.

Let me introduce myself & share my background with you.

My name is Rachel, and since I was little, I’ve wanted to be a writer.

It wasn’t until 2015 after attending intensive treatment for my eating disorder that I discovered what I really wanted was to find a way to help others feel less alone—a loneliness I felt haunted by for a decade before finding treatment and learning how so un-alone I was.

Still, I thought I couldn’t actually help anyone until I was fully healed.

I went to graduate school to study psychology, thinking this would give me credibility. I wrote a blog for a year before ever sharing it, because I thought I wasn’t famous enough for my story to matter. I waited to wake up healed, fixed, and in a state of total consciousness, thinking I had to be fully healed to share any of the wisdom I’d accrued from over a decade of therapy.

What I’ve learned, though, after 18 years of therapy, is that I am never fully healed. Life will always happen. I’ll get triggered. Loved ones will die. Life will throw shit at me that will cause me to feel, to hurt, to regress, to find myself back on my knees again pounding the pavement and wondering “how am I here again?”

The greatest lesson I’ve learned in the last three years doing this work is that while yes, many people do want answers, most of the time people just want to know they’re not alone. That they aren’t the only one feeling as shitty as they do. That the thoughts they have are not isolated, and that maybe, just maybe if someone else understands what it’s like to live how they do, there’s hope after all.

In May of 2020, right after my husband asked for a divorce and just a few months into the pandemic, I decided to finally write my book.

What do I have to lose now? I thought.

I remember having no fucking clue what I was doing, and I longed for a synthesized space to figure out which of my thousands ideas to pick, how to outline the book itself, how long it might take/what to expect, and how to publish/self-publish/get my book in the hands of the humans I hoped might need it.

I interviewed a book coach who told me "you'll never be a bestseller, but I'll still work with you."

Obviously, I didn't work with him. And “Where the River Flows” is a bestseller. My hope is to provide you not only the tools, guidance, and structure I craved, but also the encouragement I deserved.

It's brave as fuck to tell your story, and I hope to remind you of that.

Since publishing my blog in 2020...

  • I’ve published my my memoir, “Where the River Flows,” which is a bestselling paperback & kindle in multiple categories on Amazon with 5 star reviews.
  • My social media audience has grown to 28k on instagram and 271k on TikTok, which I have grown organically through focusing on who’s there, instead of who’s not. While my goal is not the numbers, I remind myself that the community I’ve built is a reflection of the work I’ve done to create a safe online space.
  • “Where the River Flows” is now on Audible and ITunes, again holding a 5 star rating.
  • Social media is a branch of my work, not than my entire life, which means I get to focus on bigger projects and spend less time in the urgency of instagram.
  • I have published three guided journals, one of which is a bestseller in Inner Child Healing and all holding 4 stars or higher ratings.
  • My mailing list has 10k subscribers, which allows me to connect more intimately with longer form writing outside of social media.
  • On instagram, I am met with a beautiful community of souls who are kind, brave, and supportive. My comments section warms my heart, and I don’t worry about trolls or bullying because the space maintains safety from its collective nature.
  • I’ve been able to monetize my social media with brand partnerships that align with my values and mission so that I can continue offering low-cost support without feeling like I’m selling out.
  • Each year multiple podcast hosts and websites like Very Well Mind interview me and share my work with their viewers.
  • I’ve taught dozens of workshops on my own and as a guest in wellness coaching programs.
  • Mental health apps like Mindshine and Reframe have featured my writing and paid me to create programs for their users.

How do I access the class?

After purchasing the class, be sure to check your email. You will receive class materials within 24 hours of purchasing (this is all manual on my end, so thanks for your patience!). In your welcome email, you will get a link to a Dropbox folder that contains the 90-minute masterclass and 30-page guidebook. The email will also contain a link to the support group, which I would love to see you in!

Will there be a chance to ask questions?

This is a recorded replay, not a live class. However, you can ask questions in the Facebook group, or using the feedback form included in the guidebook.

Will you teach us how to self-publish hardcopy books?

Yes. I will walk you through the basic steps of how to use Amazon and Ingram Spark to self-publish and understanding the backend of these platforms so you can publish a physical book on your own. There is more detailed instruction in the guidebook!

Will you help me figure out what to write about?

Yes, and no. Only you know what to write about. What I will help you with is getting clear on your “why,” which will inform the what and the how. This is a basic process of breaking down outside/external voices and “shoulds” so you can come back to center and discover what your soul really desires to create, today, right now.
